The "difference that makes the difference” Pathway

The difference that makes the difference

This is thought is always hanging about in my mind. I picked it up when I entered the world of self-development and haven’t been able to shake it! It to me is one of the golden keys of success, in any field, not just self development.

Finding that difference - that; word, action, way of thinking, way of approaching, way of feeling.

Today, almost these exact words, jumped out at me, when I was working at my ‘workplace at Chelsea beach ’. Today was a preparing and cross referencing day. Revising and reading the material, for my up and coming workshop, on the theme of ; self talk and reducing/ removing negative blocks, that are stopping us from achieving what it is we want. (that’s why I said theme, I need a shorter title! LOL).

My decision to head out of the beauty of the Warrandyte hills, to the tranquility and natural visual space of the beach, was because I needed a day of inspiration. I needed to ignite the difference that makes the difference in me, to think outside of my own everyday experience and work zone. I needed freshness and that meant I needed to change my work-space ‘frame’.

Now ‘frame’ is an NLP term. It’s how we label or make meaning about our experience. So quite simply, if we change the frame, we are able to change the meaning of an experience. When we change the meaning of an experience, it usually results in changing our feelings. By changing our feelings, we can get a different result.

So, I could do the same work task and get a different response and feeling to that task, by changing my location. The environment of my workplace in Warrandyte naturally makes me feel a certain way and creates my experience. When I do the same task at the beach, it naturally, makes me feel different and creates a different experience in my work. If I work in the city, likewise things feel and are different.

So I used this knowledge, and took control and decided today to change my place of work and make the difference, that makes a difference. I have produced a different result. And boy, as I reflect back over my day today, I feel great about my day. Why so great? Because I also realized I have honored one of my personal values, to live the life…. And that to me, means experiencing the variety of experiences and spaces, Melbourne has to offer. From blue skies in the beautiful, gum treed hills, to soft, warm sand and endless blue skies at the beach!

Find the difference that makes the difference in you and your life. This is a valuable piece of knowledge to recognize and use to create your own great life experience…..

Welcome to my new Blogging Pathway x

“I’m a doer not a goner”

Ok, I’m starting my blog by quoting Burgen‘s current TV ad’ campaign. (And note I am a BIG fan of the biggest loser!... but that’s a future post ...)

But this quote is the key to success.

I’ve spent many hours of my life reading, learning and reflecting upon the techniques and ideas, from the wonderful world of Self Development. I have discovered that “Be the doer
is a repeating message …. from many, with an authority on success… Richard Branson & Jack Canfield, to start to name a few…..

And that brings me to the point of why I am writing a blog
Right now, I have many choices of ways to spend my precious time….. (I could be watching ‘House’ on TV!)…. so why a blog?....

Well, a friend of mine, who has been a recent inspiration, has become a ‘doer’ and started up her own design business, with blog
pivx.blogspot.com
I asked why a blog? … she said that in her area of business, the world of design, a blog is a way of sharing yourself, your ideas and allowing others to really get to know your influences. That this knowledge really helps customers to choose the right designers for them and is a win, win for everyone!

So too… In my world … the world of developing others… where people are looking to choose someone to assist them in their self development process….
this blog offers an opportunity for people to get to know me, my experiences, influences, attitudes and approaches. It helps people make the right choice.

Now in the past, I have secured many an opportunity to work with someone, based on a brief telephone conversation or chance meeting, and it has worked out great….
But how much better is it, to invite someone, who is contemplating making more of themselves and their lives… to get to know me a little bit more, before they work with me….. how much better and quicker will our relationship develop? … how much quicker will I be able to assist them in becoming more of a success?

Well we will see….. I’m a real NLP (neuro linguistic programming ) fan, ( in fact I was so impressed with its amazing, speedy results, that I became a master practitioner and have made it my business to become the NLP coach of it too….but thats another post)

The point to this first entry?

I wanted to quote one of the underlying principles of NLP as a means of encouragement.
“There is no failure, only feedback. “

What does that mean to you?

And how different does that thinking, make you feel, about taking the next step? developing something new?

Great ……

So become that doer…..
